Here is a Soundcloud link if you would like to listen:

On their latest recording, guitarist Dave Stryker and saxophonist Steve Slagle explore the Routes they’ve travelled, and the musical Roots they’ve explored in their creative collaboration of several decades.

The Stryker / Slagle Band is expanded to include some imaginative and innovative 4-horn writing by Steve Slagle in an all-original program penned by Dave and Steve, as well as a Mingus masterpiece.

My comment
I sincerely recommend this album “ROUTES”  to all   JAZZ  lovers, radio programmers, critics,  fans and followers. Both leaders have a career in common and also their own bands as well as special participation as sidemen in countless projects.
For instance, Slagle collaborates on pianist Bill O’Connell’s Latin Jazz All-Stars Band and with The Charles Mingus Orchestra,  … while Dave Stryker has rendered TRIBUTE to one of his first mentors,  tenor saxophonist and bandleader STANLEY TURRENTINE – inviting tenor saxophone masters to propel TURRENTINE’S legacy for our newer generations.
The guitarist,  has also cut two albums under the title of Eight Track  I and II versioning and re-imagining the music he listened to in his youth.
I could label them as Jazzified Rock, Pop, Soul, Funk and R & B Anthems which are really healthy to keep the American Song Book as a whole – fresh, active and alive for listeners either age.
EIGHT TRACK II
Immerse yourself after reading this invitation note in the Songs of The Isley Bros. , Marvin Gaye, John Barry, Prince, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Zombies, James Ingram and Cream,  via Stryker Expanded Quartet w drums, B3 organ and vibes.
All these aforementioned recordings are in STRYKER ‘S own label STRIKEZONE
